Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 8, 2026
ReWriteMe is provided by Antoine Barrault. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.
Information You Provide
ReWriteMe processes the text you type, paste, or dictate, together with the tone and language options you choose, so it can rewrite, adjust tone, or translate the result. The app does not operate an account system and does not require you to provide your name, email address, or profile information.
AI Processing
ReWriteMe performs AI rewriting on the device. When Apple Intelligence is available, the app uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models. When Apple Intelligence is unavailable, or when the user selects the local model, the app uses a local MLX model, mlx-community/Qwen3-1.7B-4bit, for on-device inference.
User-provided text, prompts, audio, rewritten output, tone selections, and language selections are not sent to a third-party AI service. ReWriteMe does not send this content to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Hugging Face inference APIs, or any developer-operated AI backend.
Model Files
The local MLX fallback may use model files distributed through Hugging Face. This is for obtaining model files only. Hugging Face is not used to process your text, prompts, audio, or generated results.
Dictation and Speech Recognition
If you use dictation, audio is processed through Apple speech recognition features after you grant the system microphone and speech recognition permissions. When on-device speech recognition is supported for the selected language, ReWriteMe requests on-device recognition. If Apple speech recognition requires network processing for the selected device or language, audio may be sent to Apple as part of the Apple Speech framework. Temporary audio files may be created locally on your device to support dictation. ReWriteMe does not upload those audio files to a developer-operated server or third-party AI service. Your use of Apple speech recognition is subject to Apple privacy settings and policies.
Third-Party Services
ReWriteMe uses Apple platform services for on-device Foundation Models, speech recognition, and crash diagnostics if enabled by the user in system settings. The local MLX fallback uses open-source model/runtime libraries and may download model files as described above. ReWriteMe does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, tracking SDKs, or a remote AI processing service.
Data Storage
Text you enter and generated results are handled inside the app session. The app does not create a cloud account, sync your writing to cloud storage operated by Antoine Barrault, or upload your writing to a developer-operated backend.
Diagnostics
If the app crashes, Apple may collect crash diagnostics if you have enabled sharing diagnostics with app developers in iOS settings. These diagnostics are provided by Apple and do not include developer-operated tracking.
Children's Privacy
ReWriteMe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated as ReWriteMe changes. Updates will be posted on this page.
